Mount Anak Krakatau is now under strict surveillance by volcanology authorities following a significant increase in activity in recent times. Based on the latest data, the status of the volcano located in the Sunda Strait has been officially raised from Level II (Vigilance) to Level III (Alert).
This status upgrade brings direct consequences for operational safety around the area. The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) has established an expansion of the danger radius. Now, the public, tourists, and fishermen are strictly prohibited from approaching within 3 kilometers of the active crater.
This situation has sparked concern among sea transport service users crossing the Sunda Strait route. Authorities urge all maritime operators to constantly monitor the latest developments from official sources to avoid unwanted risks due to eruptions or unexpected volcanic activity.
