The Commodity Futures Trading (PBK) sector in Indonesia is predicted to experience significant growth over the next ten years. This positive trend is triggered by the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and the emergence of a new, tech-savvy generation, which is seen as drastically changing the investment landscape.
Data from the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) recorded an impressive performance for the industry, where the nominal value of PBK transactions reached IDR 48,867 trillion, growing by 49.8% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, transaction volume also recorded a 12% increase to 14.56 million lots, an indicator that market interest in commodities, especially gold, continues to rise.
President Director of PT Smartin Advisor Sistem (SAS), Odang Supriatna, emphasized that although the industry is thriving, the biggest challenge today lies in public literacy. According to him, financial education is a crucial foundation for investors to be able to adapt to the complexities of the futures trading ecosystem and avoid unnecessary risks.
In response to future challenges, companies are now starting to provide various AI-based supporting tools, such as automated trading systems (expert advisors) and AI-based trading signals. This step aims to equip investors, especially the younger generation, with practical knowledge and more accurate analytical tools to carry out transactions.
To build a sustainable PBK ecosystem that contributes to the national economy, Odang encourages synergy between industry players, academics, and regulators. In addition to strengthening education, he emphasized the importance of government support in creating regulations that are adaptive to technological innovation and strict supervision to suppress the rampant practice of illegal trading in society.
