Surabaya State University (Unesa) witnessed the launch and book review of the strategic publication titled “Sports Intelligence: Building a Data-Based Sports Ecosystem Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” on Tuesday (7/7/2026). The event, held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Sports and Health Sciences (FIKK), marked an important momentum in the paradigm shift of athlete development in Indonesia, which is now moving from conventional methods to systems based on technology and artificial intelligence.
General Chairperson of Central KONI, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Marciano Norman, emphasized that the book was designed as a strategic brain to face fierce global sports competition. By integrating *sports science* with *artificial intelligence* (AI) and *big data*, KONI aims for a more precise mapping of athlete capabilities, ranging from medical records to technical profiles, to ensure Indonesia can break into the top 10 of the 2032 Olympics.
Rector of Unesa, Nurhasan, welcomed the initiative positively, stating his campus's readiness to become the main research laboratory. According to him, coaches' intuition alone is no longer enough in the modern era; an accurate scientific approach is needed so that every athlete development policy can be accountably backed by data. Unesa is fully committed to safeguarding the national sports ecosystem to be more modern and sustainable.
During the book review session with the author team—Eman Sungkowo, Syarif Hidayat, and Jerry Indrawan—it was explained that this system utilizes a comprehensive intelligence cycle. Through data collection from both human sources and open sources (*Open Source Intelligence*), decision-makers can conduct in-depth analysis in *real-time*. This step is considered crucial not only for building achievements, but also as an instrument to protect sports integrity from threats such as match-fixing and doping.
Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, Vice Rector IV of Unesa, added that the presence of this blueprint is expected to become a fundamental reference for coaches and academics. With a strong data foundation, the nation's sports sector is expected to not merely compete on the field, but also excel in strategy and the management of the future sports industry.
