Türkiye is now positioning itself as a strategic pillar in NATO's defense industry transformation efforts. Speaking at the Defense Industry Forum held in Ankara, the Head of Türkiye's Defense Industries Secretariat, Haluk Gorgun, emphasized that his country possesses the technological maturity ready to be integrated to strengthen the military alliance's capabilities.
Gorgun stressed that increasingly dynamic global security challenges over the past three years demand more solid industrial collaboration. According to him, no single member state can withstand the burden of modern threats independently, making the reinforcement of collective capacity through defense industry consensus an absolute priority for NATO.
As proof of its excellence, Türkiye's defense industry currently supplies a wide range of vital NATO requirements, spanning combat drones and air defense systems to space technologies. Products such as the 'Kizilelma' unmanned fighter jet and the Bayraktar TB2 fleet serve as tangible examples of technology providing tactical advantages across various operational theaters, including supporting the resilience of partners in Europe and other regions.
Furthermore, Ankara is actively pursuing technical partnerships with several NATO member states, including Spain, Poland, Romania, and Estonia. This cooperation covers a broad spectrum, ranging from the development of jet trainer aircraft and electronic warfare systems to the modernization of land and naval military inventories.
The forum also marks a new chapter in Türkiye's engagement following the Vilnius and Washington summits, where consensus on boosting defense spending took center stage. Through this strategic commitment, Türkiye aims to deliver innovative, field-tested defense solutions to address NATO's collective security challenges moving forward.
