Mayor of Tanjungpinang, Lis Darmansyah, gave firm directives regarding the importance of transforming Posyandu management in his region. He emphasized that future Posyandu development should no longer be carried out in a merely normative manner, but must rely on data validity and the mapping of real issues on the ground.
During the Posyandu Development Orientation event held at the Aston Hotel on Monday (6/7), Lis explained that Posyandu now has a broader scope. No longer limited to services for pregnant women and toddlers, Posyandu is now at the forefront of healthcare services across the life cycle, covering teenagers to the elderly, while directly intersecting with community social dynamics such as poverty rates and stunting.
Lis highlighted the importance of data continuity. He requested every Posyandu not to start record-keeping from scratch whenever there is a staff turnover. Historical data, ranging from birth and death rates to family profiles, must be well-documented as input for evaluating government policies. As a progressive step, the Tanjungpinang City Government has also begun integrating a digital system connecting Posyandu with community health centers (puskesmas).
In addition to improving data governance, the Mayor also encouraged a change in service patterns by prioritizing a proactive outreach approach. Healthcare workers and volunteers (kader) are asked to be more proactive in reaching out to community members who need services, rather than just waiting for residents to show up on routine schedules. Measurable service standards, including clear checklists, have become a crucial point to be implemented in every Posyandu unit.
Head of the Tanjungpinang Health, Population Control, and Family Planning Agency (Dinkesdalduk KB), Rustam, acknowledged that the implementation of transformation in the field still faces obstacles. Through this orientation attended by 30 healthcare workers from community health centers, it is hoped that a shared vision for development will be created. Following internal briefings for healthcare workers, Dinkesdalduk KB is scheduled to provide similar training to 145 Posyandu cadres to ensure uniform service standards across the city.
