A video post showing footage of a massive eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau has once again caused public concern on social media. The video, distributed across various platforms such as Facebook and Threads, claims that the eruption occurred on July 3, 2026, accompanied by an appeal for ship captains to increase vigilance when crossing the Sunda Strait.

The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has issued an official clarification regarding the dissemination of the video. The authorities emphasized that the circulating footage has no connection to the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau on the stated date.
Echoing the statement, an observer at the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post located in South Lampung, Andi Suwardi, explained that the visuals in the video do not match the real conditions on the ground. Based on official monitoring data, the volcano's eruptive activity is far different from what was narrated in the misleading post.
