The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah officially presented the evaluation results of the 1447 Hijri/2026 Hajj pilgrimage during a working meeting with Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) on Tuesday (7/7/2026). Although the pilgrimage generally went well, the government acknowledged that there are still crucial areas for improvement to enhance services for pilgrims in the future.
Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, emphasized that his ministry is preparing strategic follow-up steps. The main focus of these improvements includes strengthening governance and refining the Hajj organization system to be more responsive to the needs of pilgrims on the ground.
In his report, Irfan highlighted several critical notes regarding the accommodation sector. The issues found included discrepancies between hotel capacity and the number of pilgrims, breakdowns of vital facilities such as elevators, and disruptions in building utilities. In addition, there were reports of pilgrims being separated from family members or companions, which should have been minimized.
Besides lodging aspects, the evaluation also focused on overcrowding in the Mina tents during the peak of the pilgrimage. This condition resulted in some pilgrims not receiving adequate resting space. These findings now serve as the basis for the government to carry out systemic overhauls to ensure the comfort of pilgrims in the next Hajj season.
