The Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business (FEBI) at UIN Alauddin Makassar reaffirmed its academic role through the International Community Service program held in Somba Opu, Gowa Regency, on Thursday (2/7/2026). This activity served as a platform for cross-disciplinary collaboration, focusing primarily on strengthening Islamic financial literacy, family education, and reading culture as instruments for poverty alleviation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dean of FEBI UIN Alauddin, Prof. Dr. Amiruddin K., M.E.I., in his remarks emphasized the importance of a paradigm shift in community service. He stated that in the dynamic digital era, conventional approaches are no longer sufficient. Society now requires comprehensive solutions that integrate modern science with Islamic values to create sustainable welfare.
The event featured an academic from Adelaide University, Dr. Faisal Abdullah, MBA., Ph.D., who highlighted that the family is the most fundamental basis of society. According to him, ethics-based family education is crucial social capital to make society more adaptive in facing increasingly complex global challenges.
In line with this, the Head of the Islamic Accounting Study Program, Dr. Lince Bulutoding, S.E., M.Si., Ak., presented the concept of healthy and responsible family financial literacy. She explained that sharia-based financial management is not just a bookkeeping technique, but an effort to create family economic independence aligned with sharia principles.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion moderated by Dr. Andi Wawo, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., involving expert Dr. Rusdi Prayoga, S.E., M.M. Through this initiative, FEBI UIN Alauddin Makassar hopes to continue making tangible contributions to strengthening the capacity of local communities through the integration of research, religious values, and sustainable international networks.
