A festive atmosphere enveloped the Norwegian capital as thousands of supporters gathered to welcome home their national football team. Although their journey was halted in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, extraordinary appreciation was still shown by the local community who filled the grounds of the Oslo Royal Palace on Monday (13/7) local time.
It is estimated that around 10,000 supporters packed the palace square, spilling over into the main streets. The presence of such a large crowd turned the city center into a sea of people enthusiastically paying tribute to their squad's fight in the prestigious football tournament.
As is known, Norway had to let go of the semifinal ticket after suffering a narrow 1-2 defeat to England in a fierce quarter-final match. Despite failing to advance further, reaching the round of eight is considered a proud achievement highly appreciated by the public.
As a gesture of gratitude for the endless support, the Norwegian national team players toured the city using an open-top bus to personally greet the waiting loyal fans. The atmosphere grew even more vibrant as the squad and supporters together performed the legendary "Viking Row" celebration, creating an emotional moment that united all elements of the team and supporters.
