The Executive Director of the Indonesia Business Council for Sustainable Development (IBCSD), Dr. Indah Budiani, emphasized the crucial role of data availability for the growth of the modern business world. According to her, without the support of adequate and accurate data, industry players will face major obstacles in formulating sustainable business strategies and meeting various sustainability reporting standards that are now strictly enforced at the global level.
Demands for transparency regarding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance are currently a primary focus of the corporate sector. Companies are no longer solely required to pursue financial profitability, but must also present evidence of measurable operational accountability. The absence of an integrated database risks reducing the effectiveness of such reporting and potentially lowering competitiveness in the international market.
In view of these challenges, IBCSD encourages national industry players to immediately strengthen their internal data infrastructure and management. Solid data governance is viewed as an important foundation to ease regulatory navigation, support fact-based strategic decision-making, and ensure long-term business sustainability.
