The Pelalawan Plantation Technology Institute of Indonesia (ITP2I) recently hosted the 3rd Scientific Meeting to commemorate its 10th anniversary. Held at the Auditorium of the Pelalawan Regent's Office, the forum served as a strategic dialogue space for academics, research experts, the government, and industry players to formulate a more competitive future for palm oil.
Carrying a major theme related to smart technology and downstream innovation, the event featured cross-country collaboration with expert speakers from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Nigeria. The meeting emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable technology in response to increasingly dynamic global industry challenges.
Rector of ITP2I, Prof. Tengku Dahril, emphasized that his campus is fully committed to nurturing superior human resources for the plantation sector. Currently, ITP2I has successfully graduated 192 professionals active in the industry, with hundreds of other students still completing their education to strengthen the downstream sector.
Furthermore, Prof. Dahril targets a comprehensive quality improvement of the teaching staff. "We aim for all ITP2I lecturers to hold doctoral qualifications so that the research produced can provide concrete solutions for the development of the national palm oil industry," he stated.
Responding to the event, Assistant III of the Pelalawan Regional Secretariat, Mayhendri, representing the local government, expressed his support. He emphasized that the immense potential of palm oil in Pelalawan requires strong research support so that local palm oil derivative products can continue to compete on the international stage through technological enhancement and sustainable innovation.
