A crisis in the supply of subsidized diesel fuel has reportedly hit various regions across the island of Sumatra over the past month. This phenomenon has caused long snaking queues of vehicles at numerous gas stations (SPBU), creating significant obstacles for economic activity in the region.
The limited availability of subsidized diesel is not only complained about by private vehicle drivers, but has also begun to severely impact the logistics sector and intercity interprovincial (AKAP) bus operations. It is feared that this fuel distribution disruption will slow down the movement of goods, which in turn could potentially disrupt the efficiency of the supply chain for basic community needs in Sumatra.
To date, public transport operators and logistics service providers continue to highlight the need for energy distribution certainty from relevant authorities. A smooth fuel supply is crucial to ensure that transport operations are not hindered and that consumer price stability is maintained amid dynamic economic conditions.
