The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has officially opened an emergency health post operating 24 hours a day in the Jatiwaringin Landfill (TPA) area, Tangerang Regency. This proactive step was taken in response to the thick plumes of smoke from the fire that has been burning in the area since late June.
The Head of the Ministry of Health's Health Crisis Center, Agus Jamaludin, explained that the establishment of this health post is a form of close collaboration with the Tangerang Regency Health Office. Given that some residential areas are quite far from permanent health facilities, the presence of this post is crucial to provide quick and responsive medical treatment access for those exposed to the smoke.
In its implementation, the Ministry of Health has prepared two medical tent units. One tent has been put into service directly at the affected site, while another unit is on standby at the Rajeg Community Health Center (Puskesmas) as an anticipatory measure in case rapid mobilization is needed at newly affected areas.
In addition to deploying medical personnel, the government has also distributed significant health logistical aid, including 15 oxygen concentrator units, air purifiers, thousands of surgical masks, and two field hospital tent units. This assistance is distributed to strengthen local healthcare capacity in anticipation of a potential increase in patient numbers.
Data shows that the fire incident, which has been ongoing since June 30, 2026, has caused more than 150 residents to suffer from Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI), with vulnerable groups such as toddlers and pregnant women being the primary concern. The ministry emphasized that the operation of this health post will continue until the emergency response period is declared over.
