The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) continues to finalize the selection process for the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz radio frequency band auction. Entering the third day of the selection series, the government is now focusing on determining the list of villages or sub-districts that will become locations for the obligation to provide mobile broadband internet access services for the auction winners.
Director General of Digital Infrastructure of Komdigi, Wayan Toni Supriyanto, confirmed that the service area selection stage has been effectively underway since Thursday (9/7/2026). This step is a crucial part of the commitment to provide digital infrastructure in various regions before the government officially announces the auction winners.
This selection process is carried out systematically through a series of strict stages. Previously, auction participants passed the price bidding phase on Tuesday (7/7/2026). Currently, the focus has shifted to the selection of frequency band blocks, which is scheduled to run until July 10, 2026.
In addition to selecting the frequency blocks, participants are also required to go through the stage of determining block positions on each spectrum. The obligation to build mobile broadband access in the designated areas is an important point that must be agreed upon by the winners to ensure the even distribution of broadband internet connectivity across the country.
