Converting Running into Reforestation, Sharp Indonesia Plants 600 Trees for Javan Hawk-Eagle Habitat

PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia (SEID) reinforced its commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles through an environmental initiative titled "From Every Step, A Forest Grows". Through this program, the company successfully converted participant involvement in the Sharp Run for the Future campaign into a concrete action of planting 600 Rasamala (Altingia excelsa) tree seedlings in the Javan Hawk-Eagle Sanctuary Center area, Mount Halimun Salak National Park, Bogor.

This strategic collaboration involving Hutan Itu Indonesia and Postinc is designed to combine fitness activities with technology that supports sustainability. Shinji Teraoka, President Director of PT Sharp Electronics Indonesia, emphasized that modern technology is now required to make a positive contribution to environmental preservation and the future of the planet, rather than just providing convenience for humans.

Furthermore, the company emphasized that sustainability has become a main pillar in their business strategy. The planting of 600 Rasamala trees on 2.4 hectares of land is projected to be able to absorb 180 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) and produce up to 72 tons of oxygen annually, which significantly helps maintain ecosystem stability and the water cycle in the area.

This restoration effort is expected to be a crucial step in strengthening the habitat of the Javan Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi), an endemic species that is currently endangered. Sharp hopes this initiative can trigger broader involvement from various industrial sectors and the community in sustainably protecting Indonesia's forest ecosystems.
