The Commander of the Military Regional Command (Pangdam) I/Bukit Barisan, Major General Hendy Antariksa, emphasized the importance of modern technology adaptation for Air Defense Artillery (Arhanud) soldiers. This step is deemed crucial to face the dynamics of contemporary warfare, which increasingly relies on the sophistication of systems and information.
This assertion was conveyed during the Commander's working visit to the Headquarters of the 11th Air Defense Artillery Battalion (Yonarhanud 11/Wira Bhuana Yudha - WBY) in Binjai City, North Sumatra, on Thursday (30/7/2026). The visit aimed to evaluate the operational readiness of the unit while strengthening human resource capacity within the Kodam I/BB environment.
Upon arrival, Major General Hendy Antariksa, accompanied by several key officials of the Kodam, was warmly welcomed by the Commander of Yonarhanud 11/WBY, Lieutenant Colonel Arh Ronald Ginomgom Simatupang. The welcoming ceremony featured various unit traditions, including the draping of the ulos cloth as a mark of respect.
In his briefing, the Commander highlighted the shifting global battle landscape, which is now dominated by high-tech weaponry systems. He emphasized that Air Defense Artillery soldiers must not only rely on physical agility but must also be proficient in operating modern primary weaponry systems (alutsista) to anticipate increasingly complex aerial threats.
In addition to technical and physical aspects, the two-star general also reminded personnel of the importance of soldier ethics in the digital space. He urged all personnel to use social media wisely to avoid violations that could damage the public image of the TNI institution.
The series of visits concluded with a direct inspection of defense equipment, soldiers' barracks, and supporting facilities at the battalion headquarters. This step ensures that unit development under the auspices of Kodam I/Bukit Barisan runs optimally to realize an adaptive and resilient national defense posture.
