The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has begun to reach the realm of local cultural preservation. A total of 150 educators from various school levels in Mempawah Regency actively participated in a workshop titled "Revitalization of Malay Literature Through PANTUNin AI for Digital and Financial Wisdom Movements" held at the SMKN 1 Mempawah Hall on Monday (27/7). This activity serves as an important bridge connecting oral tradition with modern technology.
This educational program was initiated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of West Kalimantan Province in collaboration with the Serumpun Berpantun community and the West Kalimantan Cultural Fence (Pagar Budaya). This cross-sector synergy was also fully supported by the Education, Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office of Mempawah Regency, local banking representatives, and the Malay Cultural Customary Council (MABM).
The Deputy Regent of Mempawah, Juli Suryadi, who officially opened the event, expressed his deep appreciation for the teachers' involvement. According to him, teachers play a crucial role as agents of change in introducing the noble values and character education contained within pantun to the younger generation in a more relevant way.
Through the use of artificial intelligence, creating meaningful pantun is expected to become more accessible and engaging for students in the digital era. This innovative step is hoped to not only preserve the Malay literary heritage but also to enhance financial literacy and digital awareness within the school environment.
