Students of the D-III Nursing Study Program, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), took the initiative to bridge the health information gap in rural communities. Through creative educational activities, they sought to introduce various modern drug delivery formulations that are increasingly used in the medical field but remain not fully understood by the general public.

For a long time, most rural residents have held the belief that medication is only available in the form of tablets, capsules, or syrups. Ignorance of the latest pharmaceutical technologies—such as transdermal patches, inhalation devices, and implants—often causes patients to hesitate when receiving more effective and comfortable treatment methods.

During the educational session, which featured medication display boards, the students explained that each innovative drug formulation is specially designed to suit the patient's condition and therapeutic target. Safirah Anggraini Shevputri, representing the students, emphasized the importance of this literacy so that the public does not misunderstand treatment procedures recommended by healthcare professionals.

Participants were introduced in detail to the mechanism of transdermal medications applied via skin patches for more stable effects. In addition, inhalation formulations acting quickly on the respiratory tract were presented, as well as implant methods offering convenience through gradual and long-term release of active substances.

A positive response was evident from the enthusiasm of the residents, who actively discussed their experiences with medications. Through this community service activity, the students hope that the public will become more critical and rational when using medications, thereby maximizing therapeutic efficacy in accordance with healthcare standards.
