Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Arifah Fauzi, officially expressed her deepest condolences on the passing of dr. I, a young doctor at Leona Hospital, Kefamenanu, East Nusa Tenggara. The victim reportedly experienced a series of intimidation and violence while fulfilling her professional duties as a medical worker.
In her statement in Jakarta on Friday (3/7/2026), Arifah emphasized that every healthcare worker, especially women, has a constitutional right to protection, security, and respect while performing humanitarian service. According to her, the state bears a great responsibility to ensure a medical work environment free from threats or pressure from any party.
Arifah highlighted that the tragic incident involving dr. I serves as a stark reminder to all parties that the safety of healthcare workers is a crucial aspect of fulfilling human rights. She demanded that the legal process regarding this alleged criminal act proceed objectively, transparently, and professionally in accordance with applicable regulations.
Furthermore, the Minister of PPPA urged the public to maintain a conducive atmosphere during the legal process and to refrain from premature judgment. She stressed the importance of respecting the victim's family's grief and giving law enforcement officers room to thoroughly gather facts.
