Amidst global geopolitical challenges that are increasingly pressuring domestic conditions, the Chairman of the Economic Division of the Golkar Party's Central Board (DPP), Mukhamad Misbakhun, called on all political elites to demonstrate democratic maturity. He emphasized the importance of delivering responsible criticism to keep national stability conducive.
Misbakhun asserted that criticism of the government is a fundamental part of democracy that must be respected. However, he cautioned that such criticism should not be conveyed in a provocative manner that instead heats up the situation. According to him, the current government has proven its openness to public input, one of which is through law enforcement in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
On that occasion, Misbakhun also highlighted the stance of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). He respects PDIP's constitutional right to criticize the government, but he regrets criticism that is deemed lack of substance and solution. As a party with a long track record of leading the government, he hopes PDIP can contribute more mature and constructive ideas.
Furthermore, the legislator from the Golkar Faction criticized the practice of "two-faced" politics, which he considers inelegant. He highlighted parties that tend to draw close when government policies succeed, but immediately distance themselves when problems arise. For Misbakhun, such ambiguity of stance harms political ethics and confuses the public.
He emphasized that the clarity of political parties' positions is crucial for the political education of the public. Amid complex national challenges, Misbakhun invited all elements of political parties to cast aside temporary practical interests and prioritize national interests through real solutions on the ground.
