Looking ahead to the start of the 2026/2027 season, Persebaya Surabaya is taking a progressive step by implementing high-tech standards in monitoring players' physical condition. Through collaboration between club management, DBL Indonesia, and the Persebaya Academy, the entire Bajol Ijo squad underwent a series of performance measurement tests at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium on Thursday (9/7).
Persebaya now relies on VALD Performance devices, cutting-edge instruments commonly used by elite Premier League clubs. This technology allows the coaching staff to precisely analyze players' physical condition, ranging from muscle strength to early detection of potential injuries that might loom during the competition.
Persebaya physical coach, Diogo Carvalho, emphasized that utilizing this data is key to designing targeted training programs. By measuring crucial aspects such as explosive muscle power, functional body balance, and specific endurance, the coaching staff can identify strength asymmetries that are often the main cause of serious injuries in soccer athletes.
Echoing this sentiment, new striker Yann Mabella and goalkeeper Ernando Ari welcomed the implementation of this technology. For the players, the objective data produced makes it easier to understand their own body's needs, allowing training loads to be tailored to their individual physical conditions to maintain optimal performance throughout the season.
Persebaya CEO, Azrul Ananda, stated that investing in sports science equipment is a tangible commitment by the club to building a long-term foundation. The use of this technology is not just a trend, but a form of management professionalism in integrating data analytics into the scouting system and continuous player development.
Persebaya's move aligns with the national football development direction spearheaded by the PSSI. The use of tools such as ForceDecks, ForceFrame, and the Human Trak movement analysis system positions Persebaya as one of the pioneer clubs in the country consistently applying a scientific approach to achieve the highest performance goals.
