The 2026 District Sports Conference (Musorkab) of the Probolinggo National Sports Committee (KONI) was officially held at the Madakaripura Auditorium on Saturday (1/8/2026). This momentum was not only an arena for management evaluation, but also a starting point for formulating new strategies to boost regional sports achievements to a higher level.
This important event was attended directly by the Regent of Probolinggo, dr. Mohammad Haris, along with representatives of the East Java Provincial DPRD, Probolinggo District DPRD, the Regional Secretary, as well as the board of KONI East Java and representatives of sports branches. On this occasion, a video of the achievements of KONI Probolinggo District for the 2002-2024 period was also shown, showing a positive trend where the regional ranking crawled up from 29th, to 25th, until successfully sitting at 19th in the last Provincial Sports Week (Porprov).
The former Chairman of KONI Probolinggo District, H. Zainul Hasan, expressed his deep appreciation to all parties who had worked in synergy during his term of office. On the other hand, the Vice Chairman III of KONI East Java, H. RB Zainal Arifin, reminded of the increasingly difficult challenges ahead. Given the reduction in the allocation of sports development budget at the provincial level from IDR 75 billion to IDR 30 billion for 2026, he emphasized the importance of efficiency and creativity in facing the 2027 East Java Porprov in Surabaya.
Responding to these fiscal challenges, the Regent of Probolinggo, familiarly known as Gus Haris, appreciated the hard work of the previous athletes and management. He emphasized that budget limitations should not dampen the fighting spirit. As a concrete solution, Gus Haris introduced the 'foster father' concept by partnering with the private sector, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and CSR funds to support the funding of each sports branch independently and sustainably.
In addition, Gus Haris initiated the 'sport tourism' concept as a flagship strategy. By combining sports events with Probolinggo's natural tourism charm—ranging from beaches to mountains—this scheme is expected to attract tourists while driving the local economy. Through the new management formed from this Musorkab, Probolinggo District is optimistic that it can realize the grand target of breaking into the top 15 to top 10 in the upcoming East Java Porprov event.
