Ahead of National Children's Day, Netflix officially hosted an event titled "Netflix Family Festival 2026: World of Wonder" in Jakarta on Saturday (11/7). The event was designed as a space for families to enjoy cross-generational entertainment experiences while bolstering digital literacy for parents.
Director of Global Affairs Southeast Asia at Netflix, Ruben Hattari, stated that this initiative aims to bring creative narratives into the real world. In addition to offering various engaging activities, the festival serves as an educational platform regarding platform safety features and the importance of fostering healthy viewing habits within the family.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, expressed appreciation for the event. According to him, the festival aligns with the government's efforts to strengthen child protection in cyberspace. Nezar emphasized that parents' understanding of control features and age ratings is crucial in filtering content consumed by children.
More than just entertainment, the event also touched upon the development of the nation's creative industry. Through the Cerita Anak Nusantara initiative, Netflix facilitated training for dozens of local creators to improve the production quality of children's films and series. This step is fully supported by APROFI and the Indonesian Film Board to produce local works capable of competing on the global stage.
Throughout the festival, visitors were treated to various interactive experiences, ranging from sing-along sessions and meet-and-greets with iconic characters to an educational area on parental control features. The event concluded with an in-depth discussion titled "Raising Children in an Always-Connected World" featuring parenting experts and child psychologists, alongside a screening of director Gina S. Noer's latest film.
