The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) emphasized that strengthening human resources is a fundamental pillar for Indonesia to win the global technology competition landscape. In an era where artificial intelligence and digital transformation are progressing exponentially, talent quality becomes a decisive variable alongside infrastructure availability.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, during his visit to the Medan Communication and Digital Human Resource Development Center (BBLSDM Komdigi) on Saturday (4/7/2026), stated that a nation's competitiveness now relies more on innovation capacity and technology mastery. According to him, highly qualified human capabilities can mitigate existing infrastructure limitations.
Furthermore, Nezar highlighted Indonesia's position in the global technology supply chain. He stressed the need for a paradigm shift for the nation: moving from being mere consumers of foreign tech products to becoming an entity capable of creating independent digital solutions. This step is considered crucial so that Indonesia does not remain just a market for global technological advancement.
In an effort to achieve this goal, Kemkomdigi is strengthening synergy with universities. Universities are seen as strategic incubators capable of bridging the gap between industry needs and talent development. Programs such as the AI Talent Factory serve as concrete proof of the government's commitment to creating an evenly distributed innovation ecosystem, both on and outside Java Island.
Nezar added that digital talent development must not stop at technical aspects alone. Future talents are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of technological geopolitical dynamics and changes in the global digital economic landscape, enabling them to adapt to highly dynamic industry challenges.
