The Innovation and Creativity Arena of Universitas Gadjah Mada (GIK UGM) is once again hosting the annual Jogja Run’nShine 2026 running event from September 18–20. Entering its second edition, this integrated sports festival targets the participation of up to 3,500 runners from various parts of the country to explore the beauty of the "City of Gudeg" (Yogyakarta) through a unique blend of sports, art, and tourism.

President Director of GIK UGM, Alfatika Aunuriella Dini, revealed that this year's event carries the spirit of renewal (Renaissance) to bring together academia, artistic creativity, and local culture. Through the "5K Synergy" concept—symbolizing collaboration between Campus, Community, Palace, Village, and Corporation—participants in the 5K and 10K categories will be invited to run along iconic routes representing the cultural and historical identity of Yogyakarta.

Not just an ordinary running competition, this program is creatively packaged with a sporty and artsy approach. Head of Program Experience at GIK UGM, Gilang W. April, explained that the series of events will be enlivened by a Morning Music Concert featuring the music group Barasuara, a Culinary Expo, and an art exhibition titled "Mampir Gelanggang" at the Bulaksumur Gallery, showcasing dozens of works by local artists from mid-September to October 2026.

The appeal of the event is further enhanced by a collaboration with SIRAH Travel. President Director of SIRAH Travel, Yoyo Prasetyo, mentioned that the organizers have prepared various travel rewards for the winners. The winner of the best costume category will have the opportunity to win a travel package to Thailand, the winner of the 5K category will receive a tour package to Turkey, while the grand prize of an Umrah package is specially provided for the podium finishers of the 10K category.

Full support also flows from the Gadjah Mada Law Alumni Association (KAHGAMA). The Chairman of KAHGAMA, Prof. Dr. Paripurna P. Sugarda, considers this collaborative activity a concrete means for alumni to contribute to public health and the advancement of regional tourism. For the interested public, registration is now open with a fee of IDR 250,000 for the 5K category and IDR 290,000 for the 10K category, which already includes a running kit and access to the free music concert.
