A total of 427 Korpasgat personnel who completed their duty in the 2026 Regional RI–PNG Border Security Task Force (Satgas Pamtas) underwent intensive health screenings at IKT Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (07/07/2026). This screening process was conducted immediately after the soldiers landed aboard KRI Teluk Bintuni-520.
The examination is a standard procedure in post-operational personnel management. Its objective is to ensure that the physical condition of every soldier remains optimal before returning to duty at their respective home units. The arrival of the soldiers was welcomed directly by the leadership of the 1st Para Commando Brigade Pasgat, including the Commander of the 1st Para Commando Brigade Pasgat, Colonel Pas Helmi A. Nange, and the Head of Korpasgat Health Services, Colonel Kes dr. Whiko Irwan Destanto.
During the series of examinations, the medical team focused on general health screening, early malaria detection, and HIV screening. These preventive measures are crucial given the specific health risks associated with the operational terrain. With early detection, any potential health issues can be treated medically promptly before the soldiers continue their journey back to their original units.
Head of Korpasgat Health Services, Colonel Kes dr. Whiko Irwan Destanto, emphasized that personnel health is a top priority. According to him, this comprehensive monitoring not only guarantees the individual well-being of the soldiers, but also ensures their operational readiness upon returning to their units after completing a long mission in the Papua border region.
After completing the health tests, the Korpasgat personnel resumed their voyage aboard KRI Teluk Bintuni-520 towards Pontianak. This voyage represents the final leg before the soldiers continue their sailing route to Medan to return to their respective units according to the designated schedule.
