The Tambrauw Regency Government, Southwest Papua, has officially submitted a budget proposal of Rp331.2 billion to the central government. This strategic move aims to accelerate development in the education and health sectors, while ensuring equal access to basic services even in hard-to-reach districts.
The Regent of Tambrauw, Yeheskiel Yesnath, detailed that out of the total funds, the education sector receives an allocation of Rp201 billion, while the health sector is proposed to receive Rp130.20 billion. This priority is set as a long-term investment to produce superior and competitive human resources in the future.
In the field of education, the funds are planned to be focused on the construction of boarding high schools, People's Schools (Sekolah Rakyat), and Open Schools (Sekolah Terbuka). In addition to physical infrastructure, the local government also plans to strengthen teaching staff capacity through the construction of official teacher housing to ensure the continuity of teaching and learning activities in remote areas.
Meanwhile, in the health sector, the Tambrauw Regency Government is prioritizing the construction of three new community health centers (puskesmas) and the relocation of the Sausapor Puskesmas. Not only that, the service strengthening also includes the construction of a Public Health Laboratory (Labkesmas), clean water provision, and facilities improvement at the Fef Regional General Hospital (RSUD Fef). To overcome geographical constraints, the government has also proposed the procurement of 21 land ambulances and four units of Water Mobile Health Centers.
All of these development plans have been consulted through a coordination meeting with relevant ministries and institutions under the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development in Jakarta, Thursday (2/7/2026). The local government hopes that central support will accelerate the realization of this program to improve the overall welfare of the Tambrauw community.
