The Denpasar City Government solemnly performed the Bhakti Penganyar ritual as part of the annual Piodalan Satunggil Warsa series at Pura Mandhara Giri Semeru Agung, Lumajang, on Sunday (5/7/2026). The event was directly led by the Mayor of Denpasar, I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara, accompanied by Deputy Mayor I Kadek Agus Arya Wibawa and heads of local regional apparatus organizations (OPD).
The ceremonial procession proceeded solemnly, beginning with various sacred dance offerings, ranging from the Rejang Renteng Dance, Rejang Taksu Bhuwana Dance, to the Baris Gede Dance and Topeng Wali. Interestingly, Mayor Jaya Negara actively participated by performing the Topeng Keras dance during the procession. The entire religious series was led by High Priest Ida Pedanda Gede Dwija Padang Rata from Griya Kutri, Gianyar.
In his remarks, Mayor Jaya Negara emphasized that the momentum of this piodalan serves as a reminder for all devotees to increase their faith and devotion (srada bhakti) to Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa. He stressed that the implementation of Tri Hita Karana—namely maintaining a harmonious relationship between God (parahyangan), fellow human beings (pawongan), and the environment (palemahan)—must continue to be preserved as a guide for community life.
Meanwhile, the Event Committee Chairman, Cokorda Gede Indrayana, explained that Pura Mandhara Giri Semeru Agung serves as a strong symbol of acculturation between Javanese Hindu and Balinese Hindu cultures. The implementation of Bhakti Penganyar on this occasion was carried out synergistically, involving the Denpasar City Government alongside representatives from the Sidoarjo Regency Government and the Surabaya City Government.
The piodalan at the temple is scheduled to run for 11 days, from Monday (6/29/2026) to Friday (7/10/2026). Throughout this period, Hindu devotees from various regions, particularly Bali, continuously arrive in shifts 24 hours a day to offer joint prayers.
