The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, officially agreed to strengthen their strategic partnership during a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace. This high-level discussion focused on aligning policies in the energy sector and accelerating technological advancement as the main pillars of economic growth for both nations.
In the energy sector, both leaders committed to prioritizing the development of clean energy. The initiatives proposed include the expansion of solar power plant projects and collaboration in utilizing nuclear technology for future energy needs. President Prabowo emphasized that this step is part of a joint commitment to enhance national energy security amidst increasingly complex global challenges.
In addition to energy security, a major focus of the meeting was digital transformation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that technological advancement is the primary driver of the 21st century. Given the significant youth demographics in both countries, cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), telecommunications, and the development of digital public infrastructure (DPI) has become a strategic priority.
This synergy will also target the development of the startup ecosystem to stimulate innovation and inclusive digital economic growth. Furthermore, both countries agreed to deepen their partnership in the space sector, continuing a strong track record of technical collaboration built over recent decades to support the sustainable technological advancement of Indonesia and India.
