Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially arrived in Indonesia for a state visit. This visit is a diplomatic response to President Prabowo Subianto's visit to India in early 2025, marking a new phase of closer relations between the two countries.
PM Modi was welcomed directly by President Prabowo Subianto alongside ministers of the Red and White Cabinet at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta. Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that this visit represents a concrete step toward enhancing strategic synergy and the growing bilateral partnership between Jakarta and New Delhi.
The main agenda of the visit will be centered at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday (7/7/2026). President Prabowo and PM Modi are scheduled to hold a one-on-one meeting, followed by a bilateral meeting to discuss various crucial issues. The primary focus of the dialogue is the completion of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in vital sectors, including defense, education, health, and technology development.
Beyond the formal state agenda, the visit also touches on historic preservation. PM Modi is scheduled to inspect Prambanan Temple in Central Java as part of a joint commitment between Indonesia and India in the restoration project of the world heritage site.
This series of state activities will run until July 8, 2026. The government hopes that the agreements signed will not only strengthen diplomacy, but also deliver concrete positive impacts for the national interests of both countries.
