BATU BARA - The Inter-Ethnic Communication Forum (FKAE) of Batu Bara Regency has proposed the construction of an integrated area that will function as a culture, sports, and public facility center. This strategic move is designed to nurture ethnic diversity, preserve local cultural heritage, and at the same time drive sustainable regional development in Batu Bara Regency.
The proposal was finalized during a consultative forum attended by various elements of society, ranging from customary leaders, religious figures, and youth to political practitioners. This integrated area is planned to be built on approximately 10 hectares of land in the Sei Suka area, bordering Air Putih Indrapura, specifically in the PT Muis area.
In the project planning, the 100,000-square-meter land will be divided into several facility zones. These include an 8,000-square-meter arts and culture building, a row of traditional ethnic houses as a cultural tourism destination, an MSME gallery for community economic empowerment, and a city park and green open space covering 30,000 square meters. In addition, the area will also feature an Islamic Center, sports facilities such as a football field with spectator stands, a volleyball court, and a mini-moto racing track.
The construction of this culture and sports center aims to provide a representative venue for youth development, a location for holding the annual Regional Cultural Arts Week (PSBD), and an inclusive family recreation facility. Through these facilities, the diversity of tribes and customs in Batu Bara is expected to be preserved and serve as a driving force for the regional tourism sector.
This proposal received positive appreciation from local politicians. Muhammad Rafiq, one of the local political figures, expressed his support for this cross-ethnic initiative. According to him, the idea not only supports tourism development and the physical health of the community but also serves as an important instrument in maintaining harmony and strengthening brotherhood within the framework of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity).
