The Family Welfare Empowerment Mobilization Team (TP-PKK) of Tanjungpinang City is intensifying efforts to improve the quality of life of coastal communities through an innovative program titled "Menyisir" (Greeting the Coastline). The movement, initiated directly by the Chairperson of TP-PKK Tanjungpinang, Hj. Yuniarni Pustoko Weni, S.H., began with the training of health and family cadres in Penyengat Sub-district on Monday (27/7).
In her directive, Yuniarni expressed deep appreciation for the PKK and Posyandu cadres who have been serving voluntarily for the welfare of local residents. According to her, the dedication and competence of these cadres are the result of a long process of social service that cannot be measured merely by administrative formalities or awards.
One crucial issue highlighted in this program is the occurrence of pregnancies at high-risk ages in coastal areas. TP-PKK is urging cadres to actively educate women over 40 and those with comorbidities, such as diabetes and hypertension, to be more cautious when planning pregnancies for the safety of both mother and child.
Not only focusing on the health sector, the "Menyisir" program also addresses aspects of children's education on Penyengat Island. Yuniarni encouraged the return of the handwriting culture for elementary school students to strengthen basic literacy skills, while balancing the surge of digital gadget usage that increasingly dominates children's learning activities today.
Concluding the series of activities, the management of TP-PKK conducted direct visits to the homes of several pregnant women in Penyengat Sub-district. This concrete step was taken to directly monitor the health condition of the fetuses and ensure that the mothers have access to adequate healthcare facilities.
