East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Quarantine, through the Labuan Bajo Service Unit, is actively involved in formulating the Contingency Plan Document for Preparedness and Response to Extraordinary Events (KLB) and All-Hazard Emerging Infectious Disease Outbreaks. This strategic step was initiated by the Labuan Bajo Health Quarantine Agency to strengthen the health defense system at the air entry point.
The multi-sectoral meeting held at Komodo International Airport aimed to align joint actions in anticipating global health threats. Through this contingency document, all stakeholders have an integrated guide compiled based on field data analysis and risk factor mapping in the airport area.
In the forum, veterinarian (drh.) Kanda, representing NTT Quarantine, explained the crucial function of his institution as the front line in preventing the entry and spread of pests and diseases of animals, fish, and plants. He emphasized that the protection of border areas cannot be done partially, but requires close collaboration from all relevant agencies.
The Head of NTT Quarantine, Simon Soli, welcomed this synergy and emphasized the importance of building preparedness from an early stage. His team is committed to continuously maintaining biosecurity at the airport to minimize the risk of disease transmission to travelers, airport workers, and the surrounding community.
With a well-prepared contingency plan, the effectiveness of disease prevention at the country's entry points is expected to increase. This step also strengthens Labuan Bajo's position as an international tourism destination that is safe, comfortable, and free from health emergency threats.
