The Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan has demonstrated a tangible commitment to maintaining the price stability of basic necessities while improving public health. This was evident when the Governor of Central Kalimantan, Agustiar Sabran, directly inspected the implementation of the Cheap Food Movement (GPM), the Cheap Market, and free health check services at the Puruk Cahu Mini Stadium in Murung Raya Regency on Saturday (1/8/2026).
The social activity, which was enthusiastically welcomed by residents, was held as part of the celebrations for the 24th Anniversary of Murung Raya Regency. On the occasion, the Governor, alongside the Chairperson of the Central Kalimantan PKK Mobilization Team, Aisyah Thisia Agustiar Sabran, also distributed aid through the "PKK Peduli Stunting" (PKK Cares about Stunting) program to support the acceleration of reducing stunting rates in the local area.
This cheap food program targets groups with limited economic means, ranging from civil servants (ASN) of Grade I and II, government employees with work agreements (PPPK), sanitation workers, and laborers, to underprivileged residents. Through a 30 percent subsidy from market prices provided by the government, the community can purchase various food commodities at much more affordable prices.
During the inspection, Governor Agustiar Sabran emphasized that this program is a form of government presence to ease the economic burden on the community. This step is expected to maintain public purchasing power while ensuring that family nutrition is sustained amid fluctuations in the prices of basic commodities.
In addition to queuing for cheap food, local residents also took advantage of the free health check facility provided for early physical condition detection. Accompanying the Governor during this working visit were members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Regional Secretary of Central Kalimantan Linae Victoria Aden, and heads of regional government agencies within the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government.
