The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pandeglang Regency has stepped up precautionary measures following the elevation of Mount Anak Krakatau's (GAK) volcanic activity status from Level II (Vigilance) to Level III (Alert). Information dissemination and early warnings have been broadly distributed, reaching all levels of society down to village and sub-district officials.
Head of Prevention and Preparedness at BPBD Pandeglang, Acep Firmansyah, emphasized the importance of adhering to safety radius recommendations. He strictly urged fishermen, tourists, and local residents not to engage in activities within a 5-kilometer radius from the eruption center to avoid the risk of exposure to incandescent rocks and other volcanic materials.
Despite the heightened status of the volcano, social and economic activities in the coastal area of Pandeglang continue to run normally. Public services at healthcare centers such as community health posts (puskesmas) and hospitals, as well as trade activities in traditional markets, have reported no significant disruptions.
Acep called on residents to remain calm and not be easily influenced by unverified information. However, he reminded the public to stay alert and continuously monitor official government updates regarding the volcano's status.
On the other hand, local residents such as Suherman, a trader in the Labuan area, shared that they are continuing their daily routines as usual. Although accustomed to the fluctuations in GAK's activity, residents maintain collective vigilance as a form of self-mitigation, drawing from the experience of the 2018 tsunami that previously struck the region.
