The South Lampung Regency Government has issued strict instructions to the public following the upgrade of Mount Anak Krakatau's status to Level III (Alert). The Regent of South Lampung, Egi, emphasized that all elements of society must comply with the recommendations of the vulcanological authority by not conducting any activities within a three to five-kilometer radius of the active crater.
The status upgrade of the volcano, located in the waters of the Sunda Strait, has been observed since July 2, 2026. The local government is now tightening coordination with various relevant agencies to intensively monitor fluctuations in volcanic activity to ensure the safety of residents in coastal areas.
Egi specifically urged fishermen and travel tour operators to temporarily suspend all operations heading towards the disaster-prone area. This ban is implemented as a preventive measure to minimize risk to human lives amid the high seismic activity of the volcano.
Furthermore, the local government ensures it will continue to update the public on the developments of Mount Anak Krakatau's condition. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, not to be consumed by unreliable rumors, and to prioritize safety by remaining outside the danger zone designated by the authorities.
