The Serang Regency Government provides safety guarantees for people wishing to spend the school holidays in the Anyer and Cinangka Beach tourist areas. Vice Regent of Serang, Muhammad Najib Hamas, ensured that although the status of Mount Anak Krakatau (GAK) is currently at Level III or Alert, the condition of coastal tourist destinations remains safe and conducive for visitors.
This assurance was directly conveyed by Najib Hamas after conducting an in-depth inspection at the Mount Anak Krakatau Volcano Observation Post in Pasauran Village, Cinangka District, on Sunday (5/7/2026). During the visit, he was accompanied by officials from the Serang Regency BPBD, local leadership elements (Muspika), and representatives from PHRI to ensure accurate data from volcanological monitors.
Najib Hamas also responded to public anxiety regarding videos of Mount Anak Krakatau's eruption circulating on social media. He emphasized that the narrative in the video was a hoax and the result of visual manipulation. Factually, the volcano's activity currently shows a declining trend, and the circulating video does not reflect the current situation on the ground.
Meanwhile, an officer at the GAK Observation Post, Deny Mardiono, explained that although tremor activity is still recorded and the status remains at Level III, the public does not need to panic. The danger radius is set within 3 kilometers from the eruption center, while the Anyer and Cinangka Beach areas are located about 42 kilometers away, making them well outside the reach of volcanic materials.
The Geological Agency assured that it will continue to release official reports every six hours, which can be accessed by the public through the Magma Indonesia portal. The local government urges the public to continue normal activities and always refer to official information from authorized agencies to avoid the spread of misleading information.
