Taiwan's National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) has officially introduced a strategic initiative titled 'Technology Vision 2035'. This program is designed to position science and technology as the main pillars of national development, leveraging the mature semiconductor industry ecosystem as the foundation for future technology research.

NSTC Minister Wu Cheng-wen explained that the roadmap covers development in various critical sectors, ranging from high-performance computing and quantum technology to robotics and silicon photonics. The main focus of this vision is to build a resilient artificial intelligence (AI) sovereignty, ensuring that the resulting innovations can address societal challenges while concretely improving people's lives.

Responding to global challenges, Taiwan's Minister of Education, Cheng Ying-yao, emphasized the importance of strategies to nurture top talent. The Ministry of Education is committed to attracting and retaining global talent through a series of policies, such as increasing doctoral scholarship quotas, the 'University 30+' initiative, and improving academic welfare to remain competitive on the international stage.

Synergy between the education and research sectors is seen as the main engine driving industry in Taiwan. Cheng emphasized that sustainable scientific innovation can only be achieved if the educational foundation is capable of producing quality human resources, who will later transform research results into added economic value.

On the other hand, the President of Academia Sinica, Chen Chien-jen, also welcomed this cross-agency collaboration. He stated that institutional reforms and increased funding support are priorities to make Taiwan's academic environment more dynamic. This step is expected to strengthen basic research so that it can make significant contributions recognized on a global scale.
