PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) is now taking a strategic step by making the West Java region its new business growth hub. No longer focused solely on the housing finance sector, the state-owned bank has begun integrating its services into the broader economic ecosystem, including the industrial estate sector as well as the hotel, restaurant, and cafe (HoReCa) business.
Regional Office Head of BTN West Java, Asvianti Handaru, revealed that this transformation is a response to the massive economic potential in West Java. Although BTN is widely known as a home loan specialist, the company has now positioned itself as a comprehensive financial service provider for various industrial sectors to support regional economic growth.
This expansion strategy is tailored to the regional characteristics of West Java. In the West Java 1 area, which covers Bekasi and Karawang, BTN focuses on strengthening banking services in industrial zones. Meanwhile, for the West Java 2 area, which spans from Greater Bandung to Cirebon, the bank targets the HoReCa sector through integrated credit facilities and comprehensive ecosystem transaction services.
On the other hand, BTN maintains its dominance in the subsidized Home Ownership Loan (KPR) program, which has been the backbone of the company's portfolio. With government program loans accounting for 90 percent of its portfolio, BTN remains committed to expanding the disbursement volume to both the public and housing developers in West Java.
This step is also accompanied by efforts to increase digital transaction volume for BTN's 2 million customers. By leveraging the banking ecosystem, the company seeks to facilitate various financial needs of customers, ranging from bill payments to commercial transactions. Moving forward, BTN also targets strengthening the creative economy and MSME sectors as part of its productive financing portfolio in West Java.
