A total of seven of Indonesia's pride boxing athletes successfully advanced to the semifinal round of the 2026 Asian U19 and U23 Boxing Championship. The prestigious competition held at the Basket Hall, Senayan, Jakarta, serves as a proving ground for the country's boxers on the international stage.
Indonesia's national boxing team coach, Husni Ray, expressed his optimism regarding the chances of winning medals in this tournament. The success of seven male and female athletes in reaching the final four shows that the training of Indonesia's young athletes is on the right track in facing the competitive Asian boxing landscape.
The list of athletes who successfully advanced to the semifinals includes Linda Sarui Langi Maililin, Maria Mesita Manguntu, Riko Prayogi, Anggi Chalik, Dira Atika, Joshua Toni Marties Lahin, and Viktor Wengkang. They will fight hard to secure tickets to the final round in matches scheduled to run until July 13.
Husni added that the athletes have mapped out the strengths of their respective opponents to devise sharper strategies. In addition to pursuing the gold medal target, this event is also used as a valuable experience for 19 national athletes, most of whom are making their international debut amid the participation of 400 boxers from 26 Asian countries.
