The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Great Hall (BB-TNBTS) took swift action by temporarily closing three main entrance routes to the Mount Bromo tourist area. This emergency policy was implemented following a forest fire that struck the Bantengan Block area on Monday afternoon (3/8).
The three closed entrances include the Jemplang and Coban Trisula routes in Malang Regency, as well as the access via Senduro in Lumajang Regency. The closure of these access routes officially took effect on Monday night at 22:00 WIB until further notice.
The Head of the TNBTS Great Hall, Rudijanta Tjahja Nugraha, explained that this restriction is crucial to ensure the safety of visitors. In addition to safety factors, the closure was implemented to provide more space for joint officers to accelerate the firefighting process on the ground.
Nonetheless, tourists wishing to visit Bromo can still use alternative routes. The entrances through Cemoro Lawang in Probolinggo Regency and Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency are reported to remain open. However, local authorities have limited visitor movement to the Sea of Sand area and strictly prohibit approaching the Savanna area near the fire location.
The TNBTS management also urges the public, tourists, and tourism service operators to increase vigilance, comply with safety regulations, and jointly protect the conservation area from the threat of forest fires.
