The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, or BRI Peduli, held entrepreneurship training for Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Keelung City, Taiwan. The event, which took place in late July 2026, aimed to equip migrant workers with the skills to manage finances productively and prepare them to start their own businesses upon returning to their homeland.
Attended by 50 participants from various regions in Indonesia, the program presented practical materials ranging from business idea validation, business plan preparation, to digital marketing strategies. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the participants also received regular mentoring to ensure that their business plans could be realized maturely and sustainably.
In addition to building personal business capacity, this initiative was also designed to expand partnership networks among Indonesian migrant workers abroad. BRI also introduced its ecosystem of services, such as remittances, planned savings, and access to People's Business Credit (KUR) as a business capital stimulus when the migrant workers decide to return home and build businesses in Indonesia.
Sevi Astinih, one of the migrant workers from Indramayu, West Java, stated that this training provided the concrete guidance they sorely needed. For her, understanding financial management and investment reinforced her determination to revive her temporarily suspended business in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Corporate Secretary of BRI, Dhanny, explained that this program aligns with the company's social mission to create a sustainable economic impact. He emphasized the importance of shifting the mindset of remittance management from consumptive to productive in order to create new jobs in their respective hometowns.
