The Sumatera Institute of Technology (Itera) officially held the handover ceremony for the position of Rector for the 2026–2030 period on Wednesday (1/7/2026). The leadership position was handed over directly by Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Pugeg Aryantha, the outgoing rector, to Prof. Dr. apt. Elfahmi, S.Si., M.Si.
This solemn event was also attended by the Rector of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., along with other members of ITB leadership, including the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and the Director of Alumni Affairs and Career Development. The presence of the ITB delegation as the parent institution and primary mentor of Itera symbolizes the strengthening of strategic synergy in developing the three pillars of higher education (Tridharma) in Indonesia.
Prof. Elfahmi, who previously served as ITB's Director of Research and Innovation, is widely recognized as an academic with an impressive track record in the field of pharmacy, particularly in natural product and herbal medicine research. His election as the new rector is seen as a testament of trust in his leadership capabilities and his consistent contributions to driving the commercialization of research at the national level.
Through this leadership transition, Itera is expected to continue improving educational quality and expanding research collaborations that yield a tangible impact on society and the domestic healthcare industry. The synergy between ITB and Itera is guaranteed to remain a key foundation in creating an innovative and globally competitive academic ecosystem.
