The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Sukabumi Regency highlighted the plan to change the legal status of the Regional Public Water Company (Perumda) Tirta Jaya Mandiri (TJM) into a Regional Corporation (Perseroda). The United Development Party (PPP) Faction warned that this institutional transformation should not merely focus on business profits, but must be accompanied by an improvement in the quality of clean water services to the public.

This view was conveyed by PPP Faction representative Apep Saepul Mahdan when reading the Faction's General View during the Plenary Meeting of the Sukabumi Regency DPRD on Tuesday (28/7/2026). According to him, the change of status to a regional corporation must be able to address the challenges of meeting the basic needs of the community while strengthening the regional economic structure.

Apep emphasized that the transition of legal status demands dynamic and sustainable business innovation from the company's management. Through more professional and flexible governance as a Perseroda, this Region-Owned Enterprise (BUMD) is expected to optimally contribute to regional income without neglecting its social responsibility in providing equitable clean water distribution.
