The Lamongan Resort Police (Polres) confirmed they found no indications of violence on the body of MDR (30), a man found dead in a ravine in the Mount Kendil area, Paciran District, Lamongan Regency. It is strongly suspected that the victim died after falling from a height of about 12 meters.
The discovery of the body of the resident of Penanjan Hamlet, Paciran Village, began with reports from residents who smelled a strong odor coming from the ravine. After a joint search by the family, volunteers, and Paciran Sector Police personnel, the victim's body was finally found at the bottom of the ravine on Thursday (23/7) at around 10:30 AM WIB.
Head of Public Relations of Lamongan Police, Inspector Second Class M. Hamzaid, explained that the victim had previously been reported missing from home without contact since July 15. The evacuation process of the body was temporarily hindered by the steep terrain of the ravine before it was successfully taken to the Paciran Public Health Center (Puskesmas) for an external examination.
Based on the medical examination, police confirmed there were no signs of physical abuse on the victim's body. The family declined an autopsy and accepted the incident as a tragedy, noting that the victim had a history of depression before being declared missing.
Following this incident, the Lamongan Police urged the public to immediately report to authorities if any family member fails to return home. Rapid reporting is considered crucial so that search and rescue efforts can be maximized immediately.
