The East Java Provincial Education Department (Dindik Jatim) has officially expanded its international partnership network to improve the quality of vocational education in the region. Through a strategic collaboration with BOKE Technology Shanghai, a leading tech company from China, 5,000 productive vocational high school (SMK) teachers are scheduled to receive intensive training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology starting in August 2026.
This concrete cooperation began with a direct visit from a BOKE Technology delegation to several leading vocational high schools in East Java on July 22-23, 2026. These schools include SMKN 4 Malang, SMKN 2 Singosari, and SMKN 12 Surabaya, which are known for their strong track records in animation competence.
The Head of the East Java Education Department, Aries Agung Paewai, emphasized that mastering artificial intelligence technology for educators and students has become an urgent and crucial need. According to him, the rapid pace of global technological development demands curriculum adaptation aligned with the latest industry trends.
“We are committed to ensuring that the teaching and learning process in vocational schools is always aligned with global industry trends. This is important so that graduates from East Java have high competitiveness and are ready to be directly absorbed into the international workforce,” said Aries while accompanying a working visit to the Special Economic Zone (KEK) of SMKN 2 Singosari.
This competency acceleration program will begin with online training for thousands of productive vocational school teachers, especially those teaching animation. This step is expected to effectively transfer the latest AI knowledge before it is directly taught to students. During the visit, the BOKE Technology team also had the opportunity to directly review and appreciate various original animation works created by East Java vocational school students.
