The strategic partnership between PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) and the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara) has yielded significant results. Amid global market uncertainties driving interest in safe-haven assets, the number of BSI's bullion customers surged by up to 700 percent year-on-year (YoY) as of June 2026, reaching more than 1.3 million people.

This surge in customer numbers aligns with the skyrocketing commission-based income or fee-based income (FBI) from the gold business sector, which grew by 712 percent YoY. As the first bullion bank in Indonesia, BSI recorded a gold trading volume of 8.06 tons during that period, strengthening the sharia investment ecosystem supported by the optimization of state investments.

This expansive growth was also driven by the ease of access offered to the wider public. Through the BYOND by BSI digital platform, customers can now start physical gold investment inclusively starting from a nominal amount of only IDR 50 thousand. The application facilitates real-time gold buying and selling transactions 24 hours a day without requiring customers to visit physical branch offices.

In addition to digital penetration, BSI is actively expanding its physical network through BSI Gold services in collaboration with official gold shop networks across various national gold centers. On the other hand, the performance of BSI's gold business was also supported by gold pawning finance, which recorded an outstanding amount of IDR 30.5 trillion as of June 2026, growing by 80.50 percent. Up to July 2026, the total contribution of the gold business accounted for the company's fee-based income of IDR 2.10 trillion, doubling compared to the same period last year.

BSI's Director of Finance & Strategy, Ade Cahyo Nugroho, explained that the high level of economic uncertainty has made people more selective, choosing gold as a hedge for asset value. This bullion service was introduced to provide a safe, affordable, and accessible investment solution, while cementing BSI's position as the driving force behind the national sharia gold ecosystem.
