Efforts to improve the community's quality of life continue to be intensified by the Kebumen Regency Government through equal access to health services. This commitment is realized by strengthening the network of health facilities (faskes) from the city center to remote villages, to ensure all residents receive excellent and responsive medical services.
By the 2026 projection, the regency has been strengthened by 11 hospitals and 35 community health centers (puskesmas) acting as the spearhead of primary and referral health services. This infrastructure is also supported by a service network at the village level including 2,127 integrated health posts (Posyandu), 304 village health posts (Poskesdes), 302 village health clinics (PKD), and 239 independent midwifery practices.
The eleven hospitals spread evenly across the Kebumen region include dr. Soedirman Regional Hospital (RSUD), Prembun Regional Hospital (RSUD), Purwogondo Hospital, Permata Medika Hospital, Wijaya Kusuma General Hospital, and the network of PKU Muhammadiyah Hospitals in Gombong, Kutowinangun, Petanahan, and Sruweng. Referral medical services are also strengthened by Palang Biru Gombong Hospital and Purbowangi Hospital, which work in synergy in handling advanced medical care.
Recognizing the geographical challenges faced by some residents, the Kebumen Regency Government is intensifying the construction of Supporting Community Health Centers (Pustu) in several remote areas in 2026. This strategic step is expected to shorten the travel distance for the community to obtain rapid first medical aid.
Not only focusing on physical construction, the Kebumen Regency Government is also promoting preventive and promotive programs. This step is carried out through the Healthy Life Community Movement (GERMAS), the Free Health Check-up (PKG) program, early screening of infectious diseases, and health education to build self-awareness among the public about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
On the other hand, the improvement of specific service quality is demonstrated through the development of dr. Soedirman Regional Hospital as the main referral center. This state-owned hospital is now equipped with a modern intensive care building integrated with ICU, ICCU, PICU, and NICU facilities to maximize the treatment of patients in critical conditions.
Through increasingly robust infrastructure integration, service digitalization, and active collaboration with the community, Kebumen is optimistic about creating an inclusive health ecosystem. This continuous step is a main pillar of the local government in realizing a healthier, more competitive, and prosperous Kebumen community.
