Bandung Regency continues to attract the attention of tourists through its iconic natural destinations. One of the most popular is Ciwidey Kawah Putih, an exotic volcanic lake formed by the colossal eruption of Mount Patuha in the 10th century. The lake's sulfur-rich water presents a unique visual panorama with colors that frequently change.

Located in the Rancabali area, this destination is about 50 kilometers south of Bandung's city center. The road trip to the location takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, traversing winding mountain routes that offer lush green views. Upon arrival, visitors are welcomed by cool air with temperatures ranging from 8 to 22 degrees Celsius, complete with a thin mist enveloping the area.

The main uniqueness of Kawah Putih lies in the dynamic color of its water, ranging from apple green and bluish to milky white, depending on the temperature, weather, and sulfur concentration. This dramatic view is further complemented by the presence of exotic dry trees at the lakeshore, making it a favorite location for pre-wedding photo shoots and selfies.

In addition to enjoying the beauty of the crater's edge, visitors can explore premium spots like the Pontoon Jetty, a floating wooden bridge with a capacity for 30 people. There is also the Cantigi Skywalk, a 500-meter bamboo bridge that carves through the cliffside and connects directly to Sunan Ibu—the best spot to enjoy the sunrise view over the crater.

Not only a magnet for photography enthusiasts, Kawah Putih also serves as a means of geological and volcanological education. Many educational institutions utilize this site as a natural laboratory to study the crater formation process and sulfur chemical reactions firsthand.

To support visitors' comfort, the management provides various facilities ranging from a spacious parking area, prayer rooms, toilets, to stalls serving traditional Sundanese cuisine. From the main gate, tourists must use a special shuttle called "ontang-anting" at a round-trip fare of IDR 29,000 to preserve the environment around the crater.

Ciwidey Kawah Putih operates daily from 07:00 to 17:00 WIB. The admission ticket is priced at IDR 30,000 for domestic tourists and IDR 81,000 for international tourists. Visitors are advised to come in the morning to capture the best moments when a thin mist still blankets the lake in a calmer atmosphere.
