The West Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulbar) officially opened the Mobile Legends esports tournament, titled "Kapolda Cup Road to Kapolri Cup," on Saturday (11/7/2026). This prestigious event, held at the Marannu Hall in Mamuju, is part of the commemoration of the 80th Bhayangkara Day and has successfully attracted 84 teams from various regencies across West Sulawesi.
Director of Intelligence and Security (Intelkam) of the West Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Ibrahim Adji, who serves as the Chairman of the Committee, stated that the competition serves as a strategic platform for the National Police (Polri) to engage the youth through positive activities. According to him, esports is not just a digital game, but a sport that demands discipline, teamwork, and tactical intelligence.
The main objective of holding this tournament is to find the best representatives from West Sulawesi to compete at the national level in the Kapolri Cup competition, scheduled to take place in August 2026. The winners of this local competition will carry the region's name as esports ambassadors on the national stage.
As a form of support for talent development, the West Sulawesi Regional Police is providing a total prize pool of IDR 30 million in coaching funds for the top three teams. Senior Commissioner Ibrahim Adji emphasized the importance of upholding sportsmanship over the ambition of winning, expressing hope that this tournament will foster young talents with strong character who will bring pride to the region's future.
